August 26, 2008

Well it is official I am a married woman!  I became Mrs. Jon Cantagallo on August 16th!  We had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day and BEAUTIFUL wedding!  So many of our closest friends and family joined us to celebrate which was awesome!  We had such a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the reception!  You can check out lots of pics from the wedding on the Friends & Family link.

Then we went to St. Lucia on our honeymoon!  WOW it was amazing!  We stayed at Sandals in La Toc, which was just incredible!  The staff was wonderful, there was so much to do, and of course my husband and I took part in tons of the activities from pictionary to pool volleyball to the beach olympics.  I won the 100m dash in the beach olympics and took part in the staff/guest talent show where I showed off some of my gymnastics LOL.  And the food.... soooo good!  Luckily I didn't put too much weight on.  Believe it or not I actually went to their fitness center every morning and worked out!  We met some really nice couples while we were there and hung out with Mark & Ashley from Massachusetts daily... They were great!   We went horseback riding on the beach and the BEST was doing the zipline through the rainforest!  The most exciting experience of my life!  I will have lots of pictures coming they aren't quite done yet...  Overall we couldn't have asked for more on our honeymoon and we are planning another trip back next summer!

Now back to reality!  I started coaching yesterday and school starts back on Tuesday.  I have definatly enjoyed my time off this summer but now back to the working world!

Today was my bridal shower YAY!  It was SOOOO nice!  Many friends and family were able to come and share this day with me it was incredible!  I was busting my butt all week to get the house in order for the day, landscaping the ouside of the house, cleaning, setting up.  It was exhausting!  But well worth it!  In no time at all the wedding will be here and we will be lounging on the beach!

I just thought I would leave you with some pics from the day : )  Check out the friends and family section for more pics from the shower.

Well I am finally done coaching at Parkettes gymnastics camp!  Now I have some time to get a bit of rest YEAH RIGHT!  Its crunch time!  The last stages of the wedding preperation are in full swing!  All those last minute appointments, fittings, and oh the list goes on!

We had the Torcivia family reunion on Saturday, which was great!  That is my mom's side of the family, who I hadn't seen for quite some time!  We had a beautiful day for it, little hot but there was a nice breeze!

This week I am writing curriculum for one of the courses that I teach, Medical Physiology.  That should take me a few days.  Then its on to planning my new class Exercise Physiology!  I am psyched!  Lots of work since I am starting it basicly from scratch but I can't wait to teach it!  I am looking at going back to coaching high school gymnastics.  Bethany Wagner, fellow IFBB fitness pro and I may be working together coaching at Hunterdon Central High School in NJ.  I am really excited about getting back into it!

I hope everyone has a great week!  Off to run errands!~ Jess

July 19, 2008

What a crazy month!  Whew, just when I thought things would slow down for me, it is nonstop!  The BIG DAY is less than a month away so I have been busy getting all those last minute wedding details completed!  I am going for my final dress fitting next week YAY!  I can't wait for the honeymoon,  relaxing on the beach, not worrying about the gym or cooking meals!  I am PSYCHED!  I have kept my diet up so that I am looking great in that wedding dress!  Jon is away for his bachelor party this weekend, so tonight is girls night!  : )

Last weekend was the Garden State Bodybuilding Championships in NJ... There were 70 competitors!  It was a great show.  We had Houston Pro fitness winner Tracey Greenwood in to judge on the panel.  The show ran great, and we had a great time judging and hanging out that day!  She had lots of advice to give me as a new comer in the IFBB!

I also have been coaching gymnastics camp at Parkettes... One week to go then I get a little break to enjoy some more of my summer!

Finally back from Houston!  What a great time!  I am very happy with my pro debut!  It was a tough competition with some big name girls and a bit intimidating but so much fun none the less!  My final placings in each round were:

15th - 1-piece
15th - 2-piece
13th - 45 second routine
14th - 2 mintue routine

Overall I finished 16th out of 25 pro fitness girls!  So I am very excited!

I have to give thanks to a few people... First Jon, without his support through this diet I would have never made it!  He is the best and I can't wait to be his wife next month!!!!!!!  Elena who has done my contest prep since 2005 got me in the best shape for my pro debut.  I would never be where I am today without her!  She is the absolute best, I can't say enough.  I have her busy with her Maid of Honor duties now LOL!  Finally, Maggie Blanchard for making the most gorgeous suits for me!  She sponsored me for this competition and all I can say is WOW her work is amazing.  You can see from the pics how much time she puts into making her suits just perfect!

My mom and Jon's mom made the trip to see me compete which was awesome as well as Jon and Elena.  Elena keeps me sane I don't know what I would do without her! LOL  I feel great physically, not a beat up as I expected! HAHA.

After the show we all went to the Cheesecake Factory MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!  We met up with Maggie Blanchard and her boyfriend Dave for some good food!  So after 2 days of eating I am back eating clean and working out so I look great in that wedding dress!

I hope you all have a great week!

Well, less than a week and counting to the Houston Pro!  I am ready to rock!  I fly out early Thurs morning with Jon.  My mom and his mom are both flying down for the show too!  Elena Seiple is flying in Friday to take care of me : )  I have been working with her since 2005 and she has me ready for my pro debut!  It should be a fun weekend!  I got my suits last week from Maggie, www.maggiefit.com WOW they are amazing, wait until you see pics of them!  She did an awesome job, THANKS Maggie!

I will leave you with a pic by Weiferd Watts that was taken last weekend at Jr Nationals.  Really fun shoot I did with him and I can't wait to see all the pictures!

Have a great 4th of July weekend!

June 23, 2008

Happy Summer!  We just got back from Chicago at Jr. Nationals yesterday.  Jon competed in the lightweight class and finished 5th!  So he is happy and eating all kind of good food while I sit back and watch LOL!  Nah, its not bad I have ONLY 2 weeks left to the Houston Pro!  I am ready to go!  Did a few photoshoots while I was out in Chicago, so those pics will be coming shortly.  I had the pleasure of shooting with 2 new photographers on Friday, Weiferd Watts, and Dan Ray.  Had tons of fun at both shoots and I know they got some great pics!  Saturday I was with one of my favorite photographers, James Cook of FTV.  He does awesome work and I alwyas look forward to seeing how those pictures turn out!

Finally out of school for the summer... Just going to do some gymnastics coaching in July, then the wedding is in August!  SOOOOO EXCITED!  The official countdown is on!  I think I am looking more for the honeymoon and relaxing!

I am working my butt off for my pro debut, keep tuned to see how I make out!

Michele at the Atlantic States!
webassets/micheleAS.jpg

June 8, 2008

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my wonderful fiance Jon!!!!!  Yesterday was his 32nd birthday!  No cake for him though as he is still dieting and getting ready for Jr Nationals in 2 weeks in Chicago!  Yesterday we spent the day in NY at the Atlantic States show which is always a top notch show!  Bev and Steve run fantastic competitions!

Which brings me to Michele Peri, who took 2nd place in the Master's class at Atlantic States!!!! WOW is all I can say, for a girl who I started working with only 15 weeks ago and had never set foot on stage until this year she was amazing!  Taking 2nd place in NY to a competitive group of 10+ master's girls is quite an achievement and I am so proud of her!  She and her family are just wonderful and my fiance and I enjoyed sharing her excitement!

Maggie Blanchard finished my routine outfit for the Houston Pro, and I love it!  She gave it to me yesterday and is now working on my 1 and 2 piece!  I can't wait to see how they turn out!  I am on track and ready to go in 4 weeks!  I found a new staple to my diet, Tilapia... Yup never had eaten fish in my life (no tuna, shrip, lobster, nada!) until 3 days ago when Jon convinced me to try it.  It is ok i must say and I am cursious to see how my body responds to it.

Have a great week!  Stay cool!  We are experiencing a heat wave here in NJ with record high temps in the 100's for the next 3 days!

So many great girls are going to be there!  I am psyched!  I am ready to get on stage and have some fun!  This weekend I will be at the Atlantic States in NYC with my fiancee.  He will be competing in the Middleweight class as a prep for Jr Nationals.  He looks awesome and I can't wait to see him get on stage this year!

Only 2 weeks of school left YAY!!!!!!  We start final exams next week so I have been crazy busy getting all the end of the year stuff done that comes with teaching.  I got my schedule for next year though and I am looking forward to teaching a new class, Exercise Physiology.  So I will be teaching that along with Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Physiology.  Going to be a grueling year but I love challenges!  I can truly say that I enjoy my job teaching high school and being involed in educating some amazingly gifted students.  In my fall semesters I have been bogged with recommendtions for students that are the best and brightest in NJ.  Some are attending the likes of John's Hopkins, Columbia, Rutgers, just to name a few.  Nothing is more fulfilling than when a former student comes back from college to tell you how well they are doing or how excited they are when they get in to their top choice college!

Have a great week!

I GOT A NEW CAR!!! YAY!  I finally traded in my Altima for a brand new Honda Civic LX!  I just got it this week and i LOOOVEEE it!  I needed to get something that was a little better on gas milage since I have quite a commute to work everyday.  I got Galaxy Grey color with a grey interior... Drives sooooo nice!

I am about 6 weeks out now from the Houston Pro, and feeling great!  On track and bustin my butt hard for my big pro debut!  I think I will be definately a bit bigger and leaner this year which is my goal.  Bring a nice tight package into Houston.  Elena is keeping me where I need to be so that I don't drive myself crazy!

Nothing too big planned for this Memorial Day weekend.  Two of my bridesmaids, Kristen and Christen are coming into town, and we are putting my WEDDING invitations together!  : )  Christen Simpson was my roomate and teammate at WVU.  She is now a dentist in Charleston, WV... and Kristen Maloney was one of my best friends from high school... She was in the 2000 Olympics on the gymnastics team and just finished touring with Cirque de Solei.

The wedding is going to be here before I know it, and I can't wait!

Saturday night a few of us will head up to the local sports bar/restaurant in Behtlehem to watch the UFC fight (my fiance, Jon and I are big fans!)  Gives us both a break from the dieting madness to get out once and a while LOL!

I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday weekend!  Be safe!

May 12, 2008

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you mom's out there!  Especially to my mom, the most inspirational woman I know!  As I reflect on mother's day and just how special my mother is in my life it brings me back about 15 years when my mom was diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma, the most deadly, life-threatening form of skin cancer.  At the time she was only 38 years old, and I in middle school.  Her prognosis was not good, 2 years max doctors said.  She went to Sloan-Kettering Cancer hospital in NYC in search of Dr's that could save her life... after many surgeries, and an unstoppable will she is here... 15 years later!  She showed me at a young age what it meant to fight, and how anything is possible.  I probably don't tell her as oftern as I should how much she means to me or say "I love you" everytime we talk but I hope she knows that I can only hope to follow in her footsteps and be the woman and role model that she has been to me!

Not only was it mother's day but the Mid-Atlantic Natural Bodybuilding show was Saturday.  What a great show that Ron and Vin run!  WOW!  Great quality competitors, and sell out crowd!  A BIG congrats to Ryan and Michele!!!  Ryan won the tall figure class and Michele won the Master's class, and placed 3rd in the short class!  They looked amazing on stage, I am so very proud of both of them....  For Ryan it was her first figure competition and she looked like a pro up there!  Michelle made great improvements from 2 weeks ago so now it is on to the Lehigh Valley this weekend!

My training is going well!  8 weeks and counting!  I spoke with Maggie Blanchard today who is sponsoring me for my compeition suits... www.maggiefit.com... She does awesome work and I can't wait to see what she puts together for me!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

April 27, 2008

Can you believe it is it almost May???  WHEW!  Yesterday was the NPC XCaliber Bodybuilding & Figure Championships in Bridgewater, NJ.  Pat Greico and his wife alway run a fantastic show and yesterday was no exception!  I was the head judge for the women at the event.  He presented awards to start the show to Carlo Filippone (newest male IFBB pro from NJ) as well as myself!  It was really nice... My parents came down to see me accept the award which was great as well!  THANKS Pat!

I would also like to congratulate the first member of Team F.I.T. that competed in figure for the FIRST time yesterday!  Michele Peri worked her butt off and was absolutly beautiful on stage!  She finished 2nd in the Novice Figure division and 3rd in the Master's Figure.  CONGRATS Michle!  She is getting ready for the Mid-Atlantic Natural in NJ in 2 weeks... Also competing in that show will be the 2nd member of Team F.I.T. to get on stage this year, Ryan, who will be on stage for the first time in figure!

My training and diet is coming along nicely.. Just plugging along as I always do, and going to take the best package that I can to Houston in 10 weeks!

Happy Sunday!

April 11, 2008

HAPPY FRIDAY!!  TGIF!  I am ready for the weekend for sure!  Things have been going well... I am 12 weeks out now from the Houston Pro and feeling pretty good so far.  Jon and I are going to NYC tomorrow to watch the NY Pro show and cheer on a few of my friends.  Bethany Wagner and Maggie Blanchard are both making their pro debuts and I am so excited to see them!

Last year I did a photoshoot with Eric Horst, a well know and well published author of Rock Climbing books.  (Mind you I have never been rock climbing LOL) He contacted me looking for a model for some anatomy shoots for an upcoming book.  So last spring we did some pics.  The book is now done and out in stores!  He sent me a copy of the book which I reveived yesterday, and it is AWESOME!  IF you are into rock climbing you definately need to get this book.. it is called "Conditioning for Climbing"  My thanks to Eric for the opportunity and amazing work he did on the book.

The X-Calibur bodybuilding championships is coming up in about 2 weeks.  The promoter, Pat Greico, is a good friend and runs a fantastic show!  He will be doing a special presentation to those of us in NJ who turned pro last year... Bethany Wagner, Erin Riley, Carlo Filippone, and myself.  If you get a chance come out and support this opening show in NJ!  The show is at Bridgewater-Raritan High School in Bridgewater, NJ.  You can find out more info on NJ shows at www.njnpc.org.

Have a great weekend!

HAPPY EASTER!!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter yesterday!  No Easter basket filled with candy for me this year : (  Just got up in the morning did an hour of cardio then headed to church.  I had some time to work on my routine music as well, and i am happy to say I have successfully cut both my 45 sec music and 2 minute music WAHOO!  Now the hard part choreographing the routines AHHHH!  That is by far the most difficult part!  Luckily I have the week off from school for spring break to work on them!

I met with Michele on Satuday.. She will be doing her first figure competition at the X-Caliber in NJ next month.  She looks amazing!  She has been doing exactly what she is supposed to do and it certainly is paying off!  She is so excited to get on stage and that is inspiration to me!  I can't wait to see her rock the house!

My girl Jean is also only a few weeks out from getting back on stage... She has put some good size on  this year and should be in top form for Jr Nationals in June!  She is doing a few prep shows but the end goal is Chicago!  She is back in Cali for 3 weeks but will be home in time for me to kick her butt some more in the gym!

Happy Monday!

March 16, 2008

First full week of dieting and getting up at 4:45am is officially down!  The beginning of the diet is always the hardest for me, just getting used to the food.  Feeling great though!  Finally got some info on the contest site for the Houston Pro, and will start planning the trip the next few weeks... I am not a procrastinator, I like to have everything done in advance so there is no stress as I get closer into the show.

Ryan
came in from NY today so that I could take a look at her... She will be competing in her FIRST figure show in 8 weeks and looks absolutly AWESOME!  She is going to do great! Ryan does exactly what I tell her to do and is fully committed and it certainly shows!  She joined in on leg plyometric training today with me, and we had a fantastic workout!  Her fiance Jason came as well, and watched me put her through some posing so that he can help her out at home.

On a side note last night Jon and I went shopping for our wedding rings... so exciting!  Almost everything is done for the wedding, now we both can focus on getting ready to compete, and August will be here before we know it!

Have a great week!

March 7, 2008

LET THE DIETING BEGIN!!!!  Ugghhh!  I started dieting this week for my pro debut!  Feeling ok so far... I had a bit of a headache from sugar withdraw yesterday but I'm feeling much better today.  I bought a new elliptical for those fun cardio sessions at 4:30am before I go to school.  It is really nice, and a great workout in the morning!  Started to watch the TV series "LOST" since there is nothing on that early in the morning except crazy infomercials!  So season 1 should last me about a month into the diet : )  Any other suggestions for things to watch to keep my mind off the cardio would be great!  I have done 24 all seasons, (I am a HUGE fan) CSI and House the last few years.

I finally was able to get my hands on the copy of NPC News which had the coverage from Team U... few pics in there.  I put all them in my gallery.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me!!  Haha you get it... Yes today is my 28th birthday!  This is the first time in about 5 years that I will actually be able to eat birthday cake!  I have always been dieting, so I am looking forward to a great meal with my family at Texas Roadhouse then my mom's famous ice cream cone cupcakes! MMMMMMMMMMM!

Have a great day!

February 22, 2008

SNOW DAY!!! Wahoo, no school for me today.  The northeast is getting blasted with a snow storm that started early this morning.  I just went out to snowblow my driveway and shovel my front porch, whew what a workout!  Jon is stuck in Atlanta, he was down there for work this week and was supposed to be coming in at 7 tonight but almost all flights into Newark Airport have been cancelled due to the weather.  He isn't a happy camper to say the least.  Poor little Layla isn't sure what to do with all this snow...  She just goes out onto the back patio that isn't snow covered and looks out at the yard, like what the heck am I supposed to do???  You want me to get my feet all snowy???  She is such a little princess!

I finally got the F.I.T. t-shirts ready to go!  After brainstorming I decided to go with F.I.T. for Fitness Intensity Training!  If you go to the "Store" tab you will see what new items are there to purchase.  Some really great designs and colors!  I am very excited about it!

Training for me starts in 2 weeks!  Looking forward to finally getting started back hard core training!

Have a great weekend!

February 15, 2008

Whew what a long week but HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday!  I unfortunately have been sick with a head cold, so I am pretty miserable!  I came home from school yesterday and headed right to bed!  My fiance and I postponed our Valentine's day until this weekend so that I am hopefully feeling better.  He starts dieting this weekend for Jr Nationals which is in June in Chicago so I made brownies and a cake this week and hopefully when I can taste food again we will grab maybe a pizza and a bite to eat out!! My diet starts in about 3 and a half weeks and I am ready!

I am meeting with 3 of my girls tomorrow to see where they are and how they are doing... Michelle is doing great so far and has lost quite a bit of weight, her first figure show will hopefully be in May.  Ryan is from NY, and I don't have a pic of her up yet but hopefully she will get one to me tomorrow so you can see her... She looks great already!  Finally Alison will be up in the afternoon so that I can take a look at what she has so far for the fitness routine and plot our what shows she is going to do.  I am excited to see everyone, they get me motivated to compete!

Besides all that, I think this weekend will be one of rest for me... Try to recover.  No school Monday WAHOO!  Unfortunately there is school today and a 4 day weekend would have been nice!  The weather has been pretty crappy, we actually had a delay on Wednesday because of the snow and heavy rains that followed.  Needless to say I am ready for spring!

Have a fantastic weekend!

January 28, 2008

Hello, hello!!  Can you believe that it is almost February already??!  My high school kids are right in the middle of midterm exams so lots of paperwork right now grading and getting ready for the 2nd semester to start!

Jon and I have been attending the Phillipsburg High School wrestling matches this year, which have been great!  We are both wrestling fans so Saturday night we went to watch P'burg (ranked 5th in the state of NJ) take on Easton (who is ranked 5th in Pa?)  Good match, unfortunately Easton won by a small margin BOOOOOOOOOO!

One of my friends emailed me over the weekend to tell me that I was in the new Oxygen Magazine.  It is the issue currently on the shelf March '08.  Team U coverage finally made it in there!

Getting ready to start back up dieting, and I am ready, believe me!  6.5 weeks and the countdown is on!

Have a great week!

January 17, 2008

Sorry it has been quite a while!  I have been crazy busy the last few weeks... getting back into the swing at school, meeting up with some of the girls that I am training this year, etc!

So I finally got my official IFBB card last week in the mail, as well as the contracts to sign for the pro shows...  drumroll please................... I have decided to make my pro debut in the HOUSTON PRO in July!!!  Which means that my diet starts in about 8 weeks YIKES!  The show is the first weekend of July which makes it easy for me since I don't teach in the summer so I wouldn't have to take time off of work.  After the show I will just keep up my diet for my wedding in August.  I received my fabric samples from Maggie who is sponsoring all my competition wear this year, and I can't wait to see what she puts together!  She does amazing work you can check her out at www.maggiefit.com

I also have been getting some of my girls started on their precontest diets... Michelle started a little over a week ago, and plans to do her first competition in May.  Elana started about 8 weeks ago and will be competing in the MET in April.  She came in from NY last weekend with her friend, Ryan who wants to do a figure show .. so I put them though a tough plyometric workout and got Ryan started on her diet.  Alison drove in Saturday to get started with her program, and she plans to compete in April in both fitness and figure.  Pam will be starting soon training for her first fitness competition!  Finally, there is Jean who will be competing in figure this year.  She will begin her diet in about 3 weeks and we are hoping to get her on stage at Jr Nationals!  I have sooooooooooooo much fun working with girls getting ready to compete... They give me so much motivation!  Soon enough I will be dieting along with them!

I also just finished writing the "posing" section for an online figure book.  The website is www.figurecompetitionguide.com.  I haven't seen a finished copy yet, but from what I understand it is for beginner figure competitors.  My bio is up on the main page, so make sure you stop by to check it out!

WHEW that was quite a bit, I need to write more often!

Have a great week : )

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!  Mine was great!  We spent time with both my family and Jon's family and had such a nice Christmas!  I guess I was good this year, Santa brought me lots of presents!

We had some friends over for the UFC 79 fight on Saturday night, what a blast!  It was a great time!  It was the first time that we have entertained in our new house!  The 60" flat screen was perfect for the fight.  There were some good fights, as I am a big MMA/UFC fan!

Finally getting back into a regular workout routine... I am only about 8 lbs off where I plan to compete next year... I think I have finally made a decision as to when my pro debut will be... hint is summer '08 before my wedding.  I will make an official announcement after all the paperwork is done!  I am really exicted to get on stage again!  I already have a theme worked out for my routine and now I need to start working on the music.  My suit sponsor Maggie Blanchard at www.maggiefit.com is sending me fabric samples so that I can pick out what I want, so I can't wait to see my suits this year!  They are going to be awesome!

No big plans for New Years, Jon and I are going to head to dinner as it is our official 1 year anniversary!  Less than 8 months now until the wedding!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I hope for all the best in 2008, may it be a healthy, happy and prosperous year!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! It is my favorite time of year!  Finally have some Christmas decorations up, and getting into the holiday spirit!

This weekend we went down to Atlanta for Jon's work Christmas party which was a blast... We were only down there for about 24 hours though so it was quite a quick trip!  The weather was beautiful sunny and warm, compared to the miserable weather we are having in NJ right now, cold and rainy!  Got to catch up with Elena (Seiple) and her bo for breakfast while we were down, which was nice.  I miss her now that she is so far away!

Not too much else is new, 2 more weeks of school until winter break and I can't wait!

Elana, my fitness girl has been dieting for 2 weeks now and is looking great! I can't wait to see her transform over the next 18 weeks into her show!  I will start posting pics of her progress soon!

Have a great week!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!  I had a great Thanksgiving!  I am so glad that I am not dieting during the holidays, with all the good homemade food that my family makes I just wouldn't be able to resist!  Back to the gym today though!  I just wanted to take a moment and give a few things that I am thankful for this year...

First is my family!  My mom and dad are such an inspiration to me!  Both have had major health issues and have persevered to beat the odds stacked against them!  My mother is a cancer survivor diagnosed with Melanoma nearly 14 years ago.  I was young at the time and remember taking trips into NYC to visit her at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Hospital.  She beat all the statistics!  My dad received a heart transplant almost 2 years ago to the day!  I still remember picking my mom and dad up and driving down to UPENN in Philly as my dad was prepared for the surgery that would potentially save his life.  Now 2 years later he is back to his old self again, exersicing, lifting weights, etc.  For the first time in many years my parents were actually able to come and see me compete at Team Universe in NYC where I turned pro!  That meant the world to me!

I am also thankful to have my finace, Jon and his family!  We spent the day in south Jersey yesterday visiting with them.  I am very grateful to have been lucky enough to find such a wonderful person to spend my life with!

Have a great weekend!

I LOVE my new house!

November 19, 2007

Sorry it has been so long since I have written but I have been in the moving process and just got the internet reconnected!  Wow can we talk about how much I detest moving!  I feel like I am still living out of boxes but I LOOOOOVVVEEEEEEEEE my new house!  My fiance moved up last weekend from Atlanta, and we have been going nonstop ever since which is why we couldn't make the trip to Nationals in Dallas this past weekend!  My best friend Elena Seiple finished 4th in a tough lightheavyweight class.  Elena has been in the top 4 at the national level since 2000 and has been an absolute inspiration to me, as I would not be where I am today as a pro without her guidance and support!

I also want to give a big CONGRATS to one of my favorite fitness competitors Tina Durkin on a well deserved overall victory and new IFBB pro status!  Another good friend Alissa Carpio finished 6th in the tall class for fitness as well.

I am getting the urge already to compete again... Looking at the pics from nationals and getting a few of my girls into the diet mode has gotten me remotivated!  Still undecided on my pro debut but I will keep you all updated!

I hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend!  It is snowy and cold up here in NJ!

October 28, 2007

Wow can you believe that October is already over!  Halloween is only a few days away!!  Luckily I don't have to buy much Halloween candy this year otherwise I think I would be eating it all!

Still keeping my fingers crossed but I am supposed to close on my very first house in less than 2 weeks!  Been packing like crazy, not a big fan of moving, but really excited to be finally getting my own house!!!  My finace, Jon, will finally be moving up to NJ from Atlanta for good and into our house in December!  I can't wait!

My best friend, Elena is 3 weeks out from Nationals and I am so excited for her!  This is going to be her year, I feel it!  If you are heading to Dallas this year make sure you cheer extra loud for her!

Have a great week, Happy Halloween!

Already midway through October!  Just thought you may like to see the newest pages from the NPC News Magazine and Jr National coverage.  Great pics from the show including good friends who competed in bodybuilding, Justine Dohring who finished 3rd in the Heavyweight class and Colleen Mahoney-Sgro who finished 2nd in the Middleweight class.  I have been thinking about pro debut quite a bit lately... I miss the stage, I miss the goals and the hardcore training!  Tentatively the plan is to compete in the Palm Beach Pro next October, less than a year away!  I have some great ideas about my theme for the routine round!!! It is a project in the works!

Happy Monday!

Happy Wednesday!  I can't believe it is mid October already!  The weather has not felt fall-like at all up here in NJ!  It was 91 degrees here on Monday!  I LOVE it!  I am not a fan of the winter and cold weather so it can stay like this as long as it likes!

Still in the process of buying my very first house!  It is almost out of attorney review, and the home inspection is this weekend... I had NO idea that there was soooo much involved in buying a house!  WOW!  It consumes so much time!  My future sister-in-law, Alexis, and my future mother-in-law came up last weekend and we had a nice girls day.  We were everywhere and in between!

Back to school night is tomorrow night so I have a long day ahead of me!  However, since I am not coaching this year I don't have to put in the long hours that I had the last 4 years.  I came across this picture last weekend as I was going through my old stuff and packing... My team came to school as me last year for their "theme day"  They drew abs on white T-shirts and my name on the back with the mountaineer flying WV.  I used to workout with them to keep my gymnastics skills up for my fitness routines, it was fun!  Just reminiscing...

Happy Tuesday!!!!!!!  I have been insanely busy, whew!  Lets see, the school year is going well so far, I can't complain!  Still house hunting, I must have looked at 35+ houses in the last 2 months!  I am keeping my fingers crossed, but I found one that I just LOVE so we will see what transpires in the next few weeks.

I judged the Perth Amboy Bodybuilding show in NJ at the end of September.  New show, but some good talent.  My advice to competitors... PLEASE go see a show before you ever decide to step on stage!  Illegal suits on figure competitors, illegal shoes, guys suits that should only be worn for night shows that were worn for prejudging.  You can find all the rules and regulations you need for bodybuilding, fitness and figure at www.npcnewsonline.com..

My WVU Mountaineers lost on Friday night :(  That's ok they are going to pick it back up this week!  I love this time of the year!!  FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL!  I go to high school games, Saturday is strictly reserved to college games (which are my FAVORITE) and Sunday the pros!  I was never a pro fan but I am slowly getting broken into the newest Cowboys fan!

I am working with an up and coming fitness competitor, and I am soooo excited about it!  Her name is Elana and she is from NY... she will be competing in the NY Metropolitan in April and then we are going to see from there.  I just love her enthusiam for the sport and can't wait to get her ready to step on stage!  She has a gymnastics base and a great physique so look for her to kick butt this year!

I hope everyone has a great week!

Happy Monday!  It is finally feeling like fall up here in NJ.  Cold in the mornings and warming up during the day... I am already counting down until Thanksgiving!  Didn't make to the AC pro show last weekend, would have loved to see the fitness rounds, so busy now that school has started back up!

The new Oxygen Magazine is on shelves!  There are 2 little pics of me in there from Jr Nationals this year.

A week back to school and we have a nice day off already to day!  It is gorgeous out here in NJ today!  Went house hunting this morning, found 2 homes that I absolutely love!  I can't wait to make a workout room in my new house!  I won't have to keep my treadmill next to the couch in the living room anymore!  YAY!  I'm back to normal training, still lifting somewhat light and doing cardio at least 5 days a week, and feeling pretty good.  I think my body is finally starting to recover from the abuse that I put it through this year precontest.  Still looking at pro shows for next year.  No definiate decisions yet.

There is a GREAT NEW website out there for all female BB, figure and fitness competitors.. I will be a moderator on the board.  It is still in the beginning stages but I think it will be awesome once it is up and running.  It is www.femininebodybuilding.com check it out!

I attached a new page out of Ironman magazine this month.. If you look closely you will find me in the bottom left corner as one of the top 3 in my class and the top right with Class B winner Bethany Wagner, a good friend, as we wait for our photoshoot the morning after Team U with JM!

Have a great weekend!

September 9, 2007

Whew!  First week back to school and I'm already tired!  My classes are good I can't complain... Back to a normal schedule which is good for me.  My Mountaineers won on Saturday wahooo!  I would love to make it to a WVU game this fall but I just don't know if it is going to be possible with my busy schedule!  I love the fall, it's FOOTBALL season! I go to my high school alma mater's games when I can on Friday nights and Saturday's are reserved for college football!  I love it!

The October issue of Muscular Development had a pic and small write-up about me... Steve Wennerstrom kicked my butt on that photoshoot, but the results were well worth it!  He is one of my favorite photographers to work with, because he knows exactly what shots he wants!

I hope you all have a great week!

Well I am finally back in NJ!  My mom and I drove for 13 hours home from Atlanta yesterday, long time to be in the car!  I start back to school tomorrow, and I am ready to get back in the swing!  Jon had a great write up in the Bulgarian version of Muscle & Fitness, the only problem is that we can't read the article.  We only know that the title reads "Jon and Jessica" LOL!  So any of you that speak the language and would like to translate haha!!!!!  I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!

August 27, 2007

Well it has been quite a while so I thought it was time for an update!  Been enjoying my summer off down in Atlanta, and my body is finally starting to feel better and heal up from all the pounding that I put it through training this year... Jon and I went to NJ for the weekend... whew talk about a nonstop schedule of events, visiting family, house hunting, and also a suprise party for one of my best friends from college, Rich, who is a pro MMA fighter.  That was a blast!  Met up with some friends that I haven't seen in a while which is always nice.

Teaching starts back up in a week for me, the summer just flew by!  I guess I am ready to go back, get on a regular schedule again.

Have a great week!

August 9, 2007
WELCOME to my new website!  I am sure you have already read my bio Wink so I will just start right up with "what's new" today!  I turned pro 4 weeks ago at Team Universe which was absolutely amazing espeically since my best friend, Elena, my parents and my boyfriend, Jon, all could be there to cheer me on!  I have been trying not to gorge myself too much with all those good foods that I didn't get to eat for 20 weeks but I love my food!  Still keeping up with some cardio but giving my body a bit of a break from the gym to heal up a bit.  Then a week after Team U, Jon took me on vacation and PROPOSED!  What an incredible 2 weeks it was for me!  So since I have the summer off I have been in Atlanta with my fiance starting the wedding planning, relaxing and getting ready to start up teaching in Sept.

We met up with some of our friends Mimi Jabalee and Amanda Dunbar at my favorite restaurant Maggiano's for my all time favorite meal, chicken parm!  MMMMMMMMMMM!

But, now it is time to look at when my PRO DEBUT will be.... and the way things look now, I will be competing in the NY pro in April followed by the New England Pro at the end of April... which means the diet starts way too soon for me to even count!  I will enjoy the little break that I am taking now so that I am ready to come out strong as an IFBB PRO!
